【History of the product】

Wood inlay is a traditional technique in which various types of trees are cut along a pattern and then inlaid onto a single piece of wood to create a picture or design.

It is produced following the production method of Kanagawa Prefecture's traditional craft "Hakone wood inlay".

It has been produced in Hakone since 1889.

 【Features and Design】

“Wind God and Thunder God” is a painting that portrays the “Wind God”, who raises wind and rain, and the “Thunder God”, who summons lightning and thunder.

The original “Wind God and Thunder God”, painted on folding screens, is a National Treasure created in the 17th century during the Edo period by Sotatsu Tawaraya, and is currently housed at Kennin-ji Temple in Kyoto.

The Wind and Thunder Gods have been worshipped since ancient times in the hope that they would bless worshippers with good harvests, but as they are deifications of natural phenomena, how about displaying them in your home as guardian deities to protect against the natural disasters that have been occurring frequently in recent years? The hair of the gods as well as the fine lines of the contours of their facial features are created by inlaying wood, with each line inlaid over 160 times, making for a delicate work of art.

Ten materials are used: walnut, ho-o, kaya, kobushi, jindai nire, jindai katsura, kusu, red kusu, cherry, and mahogany.

The production time is 60 days.
